Bigbear is that a satellite dish mount you used to make that an if so what did you mount to it to hold the lap top?

Have you ever even seen the crumple zone of a frame? There are ripples and varying sizes to create failure points, and control the forces induced, hoods have none of these. Just compare the size and thickness of the frame to the hood, its goin to do nothing for structure.
Not trying to start an argument, but if you wanna get technical, the unibody rails aren't much thicker than sheetmetal.

Actually the hoods are now designed to fold almost in half to keep them from becoming a cleaver through your windshield and decapitating you.

Hardwired a belkin inverter into the front dash of the car. Took a little tweaking but got it to work. Great to have.
is that switch in the glove box the power on/off for the inverter?

and where did you get the outlets, and the wiring diagram?looks confusing

You want the OEM Cherokee Tech forum. But since I'm here, I might as well help. If you're talking about bumper caps, use metric wrenches (9, 10, 11mm if I recall correctly) and just take out the bolts. For the air dam, I used a benchmade knife. The trim on the doors, people use fishing line or I've heard waxed dental floss works, but I haven't done that myself. This is based on my '01 Sport, but I imagine it's the same.
