I'm pretty sure they used to be on the bottom of the bumper on that year. He moved em up.

the engine is capable of taking all of the air in through the stock box too, should you never change it? high flow filtering is all about how EASY it is to get air through the filter, not how much you can actually get through it since you can get x amount of air through any filter given a large enough pressure differential and enough time.
