I got all my wood from a construction site as well... And the carpet was from our neighbors when they changed their carpet a few months ago. I actually had the idea for mine before I saw 96_XJs but I give him credit because I believe he was one of the first on this forum to do it. Plus his is just awesome.

This means the time between cleanings is doubled. It all does look like it would suck up some rain water though.

either way, I still think its total overkill. and a total ghettofab set-up on top of that.

Default Custom roof on chopped 87XJ

Well i have a 2dr XJ (87), and I was going wheeling yesterday, but we had a big chance of lots of rain, so I didnt want to get wet (from an above downpour, anyways...). I have no roof or doors.

Ill post up the pics here in a bit.

Basically I bought some screw fastners and snaps, some pvc/rubber 'shower pan liner' material, a door jam with rubber insert, and clear sealant. Oh, and 2 1/4 or 1/2" square rods.

With a philips driver, exacto knife and some careful planning and measuring, i now have a fully custom snap on roof that can be rolled up and stowed behind my rear pillars (about where the back of the front seats are).

The only thing is since I actually offroad my jeep..*cough *cough....the material isnt that strong against thick branches that can pierce it if hit right, like canvas would be. But this was a 'weekend fix' that I actually think turned out nicely!

You can get a good look at it briefly here
, which shows it pretty good..this is yesterday when i was wheeling up some pretty tough spots..was more difficult than it looks too. Pause the vid at 0:20 and you get a good look. and yes, that Baja Claw took it hard, the fronts are BFGs that suck for grip. My other rear BC rim got smashed up good when it bounced back and forth, but its in tact...

Oh and to the dual intakes, its simply a thread about homemade modifications. We all know the physics of engines, its over kill for the amount of cubic air the engine requires, and despite the same amount of air pressure that the 'vaccuum' is actually sucking in staying constant, it is more surface area to allow water to enter....But, with some black paint, and pulling the filter off the hot radiator cap a bit, it may not look all that bad. so yes, over kill. But, the fact that he did it on his own, and he will hopefully learn from CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. We're a community of enthusiasts, so at least be helpful if criticizing.
