I find that Honda Passport/Isuzu Rodeo mud flaps are AWESOME.
Just finished putting them on mine. They are nice and flexible, but are also stiff enough to not blow around in the wind.
After many hours of research and at the JY, these are the best. I used rear mud flaps for the front and back.
They are plenty long and already have stopped rocks and salt.
If you need some, the JY here has tons, PM me if you need one.

does anyone know if a bull/brush bar from another vehicle will fit/work with my 01 xj? Also which vehicles? And I don't mind modifying it to fit
far ask I know only a Cherokee brush guard will fit. Any year brush guard should fit any year Cherokee. I think it might have been a factory option. They're mostly looks though, not very tough.

I mean... you can get anything to fit with a big enough hammer. It all depends on your level of fab or modification skills.
What the real question should be is... what is going to look like. Answer is... all of them look the same... crappy. Get a bumper that's going to do you some good. Not some sheet metal brush guard that's going to bend on the first tree limb it hits.

The bumper that looks like the one on police cars? If so I have the catalog for the upcountry packaging from when my xj was new in '89. It was offered back then. But I didn't know it was a bumper offered on Cherokees closer to 2001 because I've only seen it on older Cherokees before the body was rounded off.

they make them. I've seen lots on Craigslist, thought about buying one. Bought a bumper instead.

Yeah same but then I decided to use building my own bumpers as an excuse to practice welding. I've already done the designs and am thinking of using 3/18-4/18" metal. But I need to be 18 first in order to take a welding class in California a least. I will be takin it this summer along with my auto design class.

I wouldn't practice welding on bumpers personally. Too important for an amateur welder. I'd practice on mower bumpers or something. 3/16 is what my bumpers are made of. Honestly it would've probably been more expensive for me to do my own bumpers, and they wouldn't have turned out as good as they look. I know what I should and shouldn't do.

That makes total sense. Might do it just for the fun of it but not to actually use unless it doesn't break if I throw it across the yard or something then I might use it. It wouldn't be anything special. Basically just a rectangular prism with reinforcement on the inside that would disperse the energy from a collision of example. I would be consulting with an engineer who helped engineer the worlds fastest sailboat when I do it.
