very cool.... never thought about making a splash guard for it, but it makes so much sense. I'll add this to my list of futures

Well it's held on by three bolts so pretty easy to remove and clean, not to mention I drilled a drain hike in the center of it where it has those trenches

It's just a matter of time I'm afraid before it breaks. You're mounted it to a fixed point (frame) and a moving ponit (engine). Fatigue is inevitable. I just used the OEM rubber splash guard and put removable retainers in it instead of the original ones that are a PITA to get back out. I can drop it fairly easily to work on it. Keeps more mud off the engine too. I do like your creativity though.

actually that's a very good point. I didn't consider that.

Can be easily solved though - the shield only needs a connection to hold it up, therefore i would recommend enlarging the hole (in the guard) for the engine side mount so the bolt can freely move horizontally with the engine, and use a large fender washer so the guard still supported by the bolt vertically. I do it all the time with building structure expansion joints where i need a bearing connection.

OEM rubber splash guard? And I should mention the bolt from the engine pan came out once, so I put it back in and left the guard on only using the two frame bolts, but it never occurred to me, I should probably drill out the hole more cause it still catchers on the oil pan bolt threads
