Hmmm...
problem with 110 mig is you cant weld very heavy stuff unless its fluxed core that welds a little hotter. go on miller or lincoln website they show you what welder can weld what. then try and find a good used miller or lincoln or even hobart welder. ive had good experiances with those three.

1st off, this is the wrong area for this discussion. Belongs in Cherokee chat or advanced, but I will say that i bought my mig welder (A Hobart 135 Handler) on ebay for 235... +100 shipping, so, 335 total, barely used. my first welder. I have welded a good bit in the last few months, including my solid 1/4 inch thick bumper (slight oversight on the weight there) but the welded worked great. It's cheaper than a miller or lincoln, and hasn't let me down yet. Just a side note here.
Good luck with the roof rack.

You could make an "extension" cord for your welder if you do run 220. That is what I did for mine. I plug it in where my dryer plugs in and I run the cable to my garage.

I've seen hobarts and wondered about them... I'll check into that, thanks.
thanks for all the input guys.. you really can find the help you need here
I haven't had any problems with my extension cord. My cord is about 50 feet long too. It can be a pain to moe around but it's cheaper and easier than running a 220 line through the wall.

all I want to know is who moves and takes the gate with them lol j/k i think it would make a pretty good platform for a rack but do grind off the galvenization at the point you are goin to weld it will make cleaner welds and not be so likely to kill you lol
