That pipes gotta be better than conduit. Careful welding on galvanized metal. Be sure to drink plenty of milk after welding, just to be safe.

If you are going that route, you could cut the bottom off a shopping cart and put that up there too. You could fill it with fuel cans and put saran wrap over the top to keep it from bouncing out. That would be sweet!

Aaaaannnnyway... yeah, I looked up how to paint galvanized and there is a way to remove the finish to paint it... do I'm thinking ill probably do that before I weld... this will be my first time welding, so I'm gonna practice on some scrap before I start on it... but it will probably be a while. Have to get a welder and get all settled in to the new place first.

Cool

Remove the galvanizing? Why would you want to do that? Galvanize is 20x better than paint.it'll still be inside the tube also. You'll get the fumes regardless if you weld that. If you don't like color, paint over it. Galvanize pipe will weld fine, the welds can rust less you get galvanize in a can or paint it. Least its not conduit.

I've blown more holes welding my jeep then I have in my entire welding career! And that poo is clearish, argh. I have to weld sliders on a buddy's jeep tomorrow, he's suppose to be getting that layer out, hope he doesn't grind too much

Why would it be noisey? Guys, I'm not keeping it on their like that... once I snag a welder and material I'm gonna fab a roof basket out of it... come on now, I'm not gonna leave a fence gate strapped to the roof rack of my xj...

alright, so it turns out I need to use the gate for... well a gate...

I would run a search, but seeing as how I already started this thread, I'll ask from here

I'm looking for a welder... the goal is to eventually fab up bumpers, rock sliders, and maybe eventually a roll cage

I've never welded a thing in my life, but I've always wanted to and now seems like a great time to start... I'd like to stick with 110volt if at all possible because I'm renting and there's no 220 in my garage... and I don't really wanna go through the expense of having 220 put in when I don't know how long I'm going to live there

can someone tell me what kind of welder I should be looking for?
