Came across a really clean 5.9L 98 ZJ and I just had to pick it up. Really high milage (222k) but my mechanic gave it a passing grade when he inspected it before I bought it. So excited to start working on it... first things first though... had to black out those hood louvers.

Man, what a beast of an engine that 5.9. You tell it to go, and it freakin' goes!





First time in the Garage... hmm. Paint looks pretty shot on those hood louvers....





Off they go! hmmm... that Jeep badging is pretty ratty...





Off with the jeep badging! Blacked out the hood louvers. Lookin' good! Hmm, the paint could sure use a good buff n' polish....


This weekend's gonna be fun.

In 98 it was the fastest suv made and kinda the grand father for the srt8 grand cherokee.

Thanks guys. I'm super excited. All in all it's in great shape for the milage. Interior all looks good no major issues. All electronics work, sunroof opens and closes no issues. (except the damn coolant sensor bug)

I am getting a laundry list of work done to it next week of maintenance stuff, cv joints and tie rod ends need to be replaced.

The limited wheels are in pretty rough shape so I picked up a set of really nice TJ rubicon 16x8 wheels that i'm getting powder coated satin black and putting on some 30" KO2's with a 2" BB lift. All the badging was falling apart too so I am replacing with satin black versions of what's there. It should look pretty mean when it's finished.

I picked it up for $3800. I think I got a pretty good deal especially after looking at a few others that were a nightmare asking for a similar price.
