Default front axle placement

Has anyone tried moving there front axle say 6" or so forward with long arms? Im thinking of making a new set and moving g it forward but it'd be a lot of Fab moving shock mounts and having a drive shaft made. Any ideas?

to do it right you'd also need to move the coil buckets foreword, you'll need pretty extensive steering modifications (full hydro would be the quickest answer), and the frame mout for the track bar will need to be relocated. you're right, it will be a good amount of fab work. but, it is possible.

but, if you're moving the axle that far foreword then you could triangulate the UCA's and eliminate your need for the track bar. and you could also make a new mount for the steering box and extend the steering shaft so that would fix your steering troubles with the stretch. coil buckets can be easily fabricated. and a shock hoop wouldnt be to hard to fab up so you could relocate your shocks.

Astro van steering box would work, it has the pitman arm pointing to the front. Like he said possible but a ton of fab. Mine is about 3" forward, I put my spring buckets on the axle farther back so I wouldn't have to move the uppper mounts.

mines pushed forward as well... not sure how much though... as much as i could and still not run into problems with anything where they already are... my springs also mount slightly to the rear of the axle tube... and the way my steering is on my d60 it makes it easier to do... why 6in forward? thats alot... ive seen it done easily with a leaf spring swap... almost cant get away with stretching it this much with leafs in the front... if it for a longer wheel base why not flip the rear springs and go that way with it? still alot of work but much easier... lol

you can do 3ish from center with no real issues beyond that you need to do a lot of work, new buckets shock mounts track bar mounts steering the whole 9
