Default Flooring and seats....Suggestions?

2 things.....First, I pulled my seats out today and pulled up all the nasty, smelly, carpet. I've got some bad rusted through spots just on the passenger side I'm fixing, but I'm debating and need some suggestions. I'm not a fan of carpet, I have a 4 year old and don't want to dick with stains (What am I doing owning an XJ then right? )

I've been tossing around the idea of herculining (or using some such product). Figure its durable and I can just hose it out. Any other ideas? Looking for the cheapest "fix" possible.

2nd, like I said I pulled my seats out, they are stained all to hell and smell worse than death. I've shampooed them, scrubbed them by hand..... Its not so much the stains but the smell is killer. How bad would it be for me to take them to a car wash and blast the hell out of them then let them air dry for a few days? Got 80* weather here.

Thanks ya'll!!

Yeah man! Herc it!

lots of guys on here have done it, looks great. I'm actually in the middle of the process right now, so I can't speak for how well it holds up or anything.

if you dont care about having carpet then go for it!

as far as the seats I dunno, I guess that could help. you should try it!
I'd like to know the results of that, my seats are dirty as...

I went with the herculiner, just did my bumper as well. i like it alot. smell is pretty bad for a couple of days. i wouldnot use any of the knock off products. I tried the rustoleum brand one and it worked like crap. i ended up buying the hurculiner and doing that over the top anyways.

As far as power washing your seats I have done this before not to my xj but a different car the biggest problem is how much water is retained in the foam if the water stays in too long it will get stagnet and add to the stink. Two things you can do is to one power wash your seats and then use a wet/dry vac to extract the excess water hopefully that would get rid of the smell and remove any standing water or if you want you could take off the material covering your seat (hoping that it's the material and not the foam that stinks) and replace it with seat covers. Good Luck with whatever you decide.

there are a lot of cash for clunker XJs that have good seats. Go get some used ones but hurry. The salvage yard is suppose to crush em in 30 days....I hate it!

i pulled my carpets, used a spray on bedliner for easy touch ups and got rid of my smelly cloth seats for leather ones. mud wipes right off and no more wet dog smells.

Check out my album of a Herculined interior...Works well...one downside I found to it is if your a perfectionist...(as I try to be) you'll need quite a few layers of it to make the lines on the console meet with the floor if you can grasp my pathetic description. As for seats...I personally am looking on quadratec's website for some aftermarket Corbeau seats. As for washing the floors...I've heard of two ways of doing it...drilling more drain holes in your floor...and as I do....pressure wash it, then get a wet/dry vac and suck the crap outta there.

OK, Got my cargo area done. I'll get pics up soon.

One question I had when I get ready to do the front --

The foam crap, I guess the heat shield? Do I put the liner over it?
