Hey guys! Recently picked up this nice XJ that is completely rust free! Being in Ohio I’m super excited, but also a little worried for winter/mud. The plastic liners have been removed and fenders flare holes were welded shut. I’m in a high school welding program and need an end of the year project. I want to close up the large hole that leads towards the floor and tub, as well as any other spot that is going to hold water, slush, or mud. Currently the jeep is on 3” of lift and roughly 32.7x11.2” tires.
I would advise against sealing up any holes that are there from the factory...they're there for a reason. If you want the inside areas to be protected, fluid film would be a better alternative.
Water and grime can come from lots of places, and sometimes those factory holes are what lets it out. The engineers that built this thing were pretty smart, haha...
That's a beautiful Jeep you have there. Maybe you could build some sliders for it, or do the rocker 2x6 mod...post pics of the area you're thinking of sealing up, too. Welcome to the sickness!
