Default Dana 44 swap

Ok, so I have a cherokee with the stock axles. How difficult is it to swap a dana 44 in for the front and rear? Would a different axle be better or easier to swap in?

An XJ D44 is plug and play. The front is the difficult one. There are some front standard width D44s from South America, but they are relatively rare. Beyond that, a Rubicon front D44 is the only bolt in. Beyond that, it has to be fabbed in.

So putting a D44 in the rear is fairly easy?

If it is from an XJ, yes. Bolts right in.

Some one correct me if I'm wrong, but that 79 Cherokee is a FSJ,(Full Size Jeep) and being that width, I doubt it would be a bolt in.

This is the full size Cherokee. They are wider than ours.

Also, the front is leaf sprung, not coils like ours.
