Default Custom XJ Tool Bx

Hey everyone, Ive been wanting to do something to my jeep since i got it, and while I am waiting on lift funds I decided to build my tool box. This rig is going to be built to be and expedition stile rig. So here are the pictures, I have some crappy cellphone pics of the beginning if anyone wants to see that otherwise here is the build about halfway in.

Looking good so far. Are you going to have anything above your drawers? From the pics looks like you have enough room for another set if drawers. Looking forward to seeing it finished.

Yes there will be a smaller set of top drawers...then the top of the box will be bedlined and the whole thing painted OD green and tires will sit rachet strapped to the top

Very nice carpentry! Will you be doing something to anchor the box down? I recently discovered the hard way that giant, heavy, wooden boxes will launch into the air and end up wrong-side down if they're not bolted to something. I suppose I could drive slower, too, but that sounds super-lame.

So i started workin on this again it had been awhile and i kept putting it off for some reason, mainly because i put my lift on, now im back to this.... I started by making a second of three drawers that will be on this, and then clamped the top on after drilling and chiseling 2 slots (one on each side over the drawers) 1/4" into the top from underneath(coulda just used the router but i like doing things by hand). the light is just taped in temp. for pics. I have a few other plans for this that are pretty different than any ive ever seen so lemme know what you think as this progresses I have to figure out what kind of fuses i will need to tie to the jeep battery...sorry for the crappy cell pics, i need a new camera

Damn that's a big box. I like all the space I have when my cargo area is empty, and when its full its really freaking full. I couldn't justify a box this big.

That being said: good job. I love anything purpose built, and the execution of it is great. I can't wait to see it finished and full of stuff.

thanks for your feedback, i was originally going for something a bit smaller but idk something got ahold of me i guess cause bam here you go lol, there is a lot of usable storage space in the drawers themselves though, and if i need to fit something bigger in the jeep i can just take it out or put it iin the trailer but i guess ill see how it goes...

They are two 5" 5600k led stips from litegear that i had left over froma movie i woked on. I will be run to a switch on the front and then to fuse in the back of the box?? i think

oh and the tape is just temp for the pic

I like it! One thought could be to run a simple pressure switch for the LEDs so that they turn on when a drawer is opened.
