Default CRV'ers Like Nice Racks Too! First for me...

Got a call from a local guy wanting a custom roof rack for his '08 Honda CRV, I though, well, ok! The roof line was kinda funky but honda actually put some solid studs up there to which I mounted the rack. He was adamant about having the hammer mount on there, which was also a first, but it looks cool. Built him a removable tire carrier too! Had it powder coated with black wrinkle. His CRV has to be the only one like it now. Anyways, some pictures, just wanted to share the build.

I really like that design. You even have tabs for lights. Very nice. Did you build this or just modify it to fit your Honda?

EDIT: Never mind, I see that you built from scratch... Impressive!

i didnt get any of his whole car, he was stoked which was great. the curves on the rack really did lend well to the shape of the car though.

.065 wall 1 inch for the top and bottom rails, 1 inch square down the center of the bottom, 3/4 .065 everywhere else. i just got a JD2 bender and the 1 inch was bent with that. On the racks I build, i spend WAY too much time notching everything so by the time its done its rock solid, i cant believe what some manufactures put out.

Yes sir, that's a good looking rack! I agree too, notching all the joints can take quite some time, but it's the only way to go.

Nice work!

God bless him, he did have a bull bar on it. To his dismay, it dented at the slightest nudge though. I told him i would bend him up a new one, I'll post pics when he's ready.

Great job! The sledge on a CRV gives me a little laugh this morning.
