Hey, I am helping a buddy do fullsize axles on his jeep. He has a 10 bolt rear and D44 front. My question is on changing the pinion angle of the front (It's a low pinion D44) The only real hiccup we seem to have before we start the project is the leaf spring perches (I know I just lost some of you but the axle swap is going on a CJ lol) The one on the long side will be easy, but the perch on the short side is attached to the diff. Anybody have any ideas or tricks they used to change the angle of the perch? I've attached pictures.
Thanks
Matt

Degree shims are the easy way the hard way is to cut the perch off and fab one up. Keep in mind if you change the pinion angle you are also changing the caster.
Most jeep gurus will tell you that you cant change the front pinion angle because you wreck your caster. Doing so will lead to really wandery, wobbly, and dangerous steering. I have seen some really good fab guys tack weld the out Cs to a flat surface after drilling out the plug welds with a carbide drill bit and with a lot of heat and leverage turn only the differential housing. up while keeping everything else aligned. It turned out really well as long as the proper steps were taken. I know there are posts on some forums about this I haven't explored it in a few years but it is possible.
