Cargo Side Shelf
I built a very quick and sloppy prototype of this and now I'm building a nice one. The concept is not new: fill out the space behind the wheel well for storage of stuff. I'm going to put in a mid level shelf to hold my air compressor. I have a small 2.5 gallon tank that I'm going to mount on top. I'd really like to find a broke twin tank 5 gallon compressor and use those tanks. I'll post more as I do it. Once I'm all done I will consider making these for others if there's any interest.

That's pretty cool. I could see that being a completely self-contained onboard air system since you already mentioned putting the tank atop. It would be pretty cool to put the compressor mounted on the underside of where your tank will go. Be real cool if you put a hinged door on the front to enclose it all, but then have your gauges, disconnects, etc. accessible from the outside. Nice starting point though, looks like a good use of the weird space around the gas line to the tank.

That's pretty much the plan. There will be a middle shelf which the pump will sit on. I plan on using the extra space to hold some recovery gear and a coiled hose. I did draw up an idea to put on some doors and maybe even a divider to better contain a tow rope. Stay tuned for more photos.

It's done!! Here's my completed cargo shelf/organizer thing. I did mount my air pump onto it already. I have a tank to mount to it. Later I'll put some doors on it, so it can contain a tow rope/shackles/some other stuff.

I turned my shelf into an on board air system. The tank is a little small, but fits in the space pretty good. If anyone want a shelf like this I can make one for about $40 maybe less. PM if interested.

Nice neat and clean.
I did something similar, but when i did my cage I had to move everything.
I have my 2.5 Gal tank mounted to the C and D pillar bars of the cage.
About the same height as yours, the compressor is sitting on the carpet held by Velcro.
It is the Viair 400P with the base plate with rubber isolators, so the plate is velcroed to the carpet.
I need to redo the whole thing, I may steal your idea.
