Well we all have problems keeping our tools, extra parts, fluids, and other trash organized in the back of our cherokees. However, I am going to build a new false floor that will hopefully help me to keep things organized. I picked some plywood and 2x4s out a construction dumpster in the neighborhood next to us. I plan on having a frame about 6-8 inches high with a "lid" that acts more like a truck toolbox than a false floor. I want to have a second piece that goes over the rear seat that is removable when I have people with me. In addition to this I want to make a quick release hinge for the upper half of the rear bench seat even though I plan on changing my back seat to a zj bench later to match my front zj seats. Any other ideas you guys want to throw out there, I plan on starting this tomorrow.

Yeah I have wanted to do this since I bought it. Taking pictures is not my strong point but I will try and document the process fairly well. I was originally going to put the spare underneath it but I started to like having it against the wall. Also I am going to work on accomodating the jumper cables in the useless cubby hole.

Ok I am just getting started on it. The first half in the back is going to be 7 inches high 42 inches wide and 32 inches long. it is kind of thin on the width size to accomodate the spare tire. It will be removable.

Got the frame done. It is a free standing one so it takes up a bit more room.
Here is what I have so far.
The cut wood for the first half of the frame towards the back of the jeep

The frame assembled

The wood for the second half.

The second half assembled

And an overall shot.

So what do yall think so far. I am not going to do hinged doors because the hinges are 7 a piece at the only hardware store around. The wood was all free except one 2x4 that I payed 5 bucks for. I think I am just going to make part of the floor removable instead of screwed down.

i would put a front access. When you have things on your false floor it would be a pain to remove them to access anything.
here is an example of a front load only false floor(mine)

Removable back section as well

I am excited to see how this turns out tho man!

This is what I have so far. I have to finish the access door still. I think I have some tan carpet in the attic for now until I get some gray carpet. I really like your false floor 96_XJ but the reason I decided not to go with a front loading one was because I wanted to be able to keep the stuff under the floor more organized. I will give you credit also for some of my ideas on this one. Also I did not make a front access because I was lazy but I might incorporate it later. The front piece is most likely not going to be there most of the time anyway but I wanted to make it.

Mostly finished the rear area minus the access panel. I know the carpet doesnt match the truck but it is all I had. Also sorry for the slightly blurry pic.

Access area

Its a bit different than most. The second half will hopefully be finished on Monday. I also hope to get the area undreneath the floor organized as well. Hope yall like it.
