while at the jy the other night i stumbled across a set of hood vents while working stripping parts off of a xj
heres the hood vents with hood all taped up getting ready to cut

after a six pack of rollling rock i finally gained the testicular fortitude to start cutting
here is the end result unfortunately my camera sucks so you cant really see that good

first i just threw them on and started moving them around untill i got them where i wanted them...i used the middle contour lines in the hood as the edge to measure from...they are 5 inches from the middle lines in the hood
17 1/2 inches from the front of the hood and 3 1/2 inches from the cowl

Just a hood start cutting, junkyards full of them.
ok first off just wana say I really like the way this looks.SRRY if i sound like a hater. I really want to do this but im not shure if its worth it. Now for the questions as far as under hood temps go have you seen a difrence?
Also with the drip pans on wouldnt it pretty much not allow allot of heat to escape.......making this just a cosmetic upgrade.
If the vents were fliped 180* would that force air under the hood to cool the engine bay.
again im not hating just curious and think its a great idea

I have not had the guts to chop a hood to install this one yet. Mainly because of the size of the hole needed and the structural stength loss that will happen by cutting that much sheet metal out. It will take some planning and fab work to regain the hoods strength. It is from a mid 80s Dodge Daytona turbo.
