Nice job on the bumper i always use my lincoln 125 mig .035 flux it welds so nicely but once i get thick stuff i just use my lincoln 225 arc welder

Yeah I'm impressed with this welders output. Someday I want the Lincoln 300 and run everything!

I didn't see it mentioned yet so i'll birng it up. decent looking beads but a couple of them look undercut. the bead should not be beveled inward, up the wire speed just a tad. when a weld is undercut like that it looks nice but it's more prone to cracking as the material is actually thinner there. penetration looks decent from the heat marks though I'd say you're off to a good start

Thanks for the input. Next time I weld I will make some adjustments to try to avoid that under cut. I haven't really used this welder much I'm more used to stick welding on an ac-dc machine. More practice with my machine should help avoid the undercut. I'm not to worried with these bumpers because I never will be pulling from them

No worries, like i said it looks like you're doing great just throw some more meat in those beads. my rig is a desert runner so stress cracks are a big deal for me. sliding into a rock is a lot different from running into the back of someone's bumper at 60mph to get em out of your way.

I came up with this based off of your design. It's two inches wider on both sides to fit flush with my flairs and give a little extra corner protection. I also made it 6 inches tall instead of 5. What do you think? I'll be building something very similar after this semester

Sounds and looks like you got a great plan. Yeah it will look great with the side protection like that since you're not flareless. Not sure about 6" tall, but I know u won't be able to see the front crossmember like mine so it should look good! Good luck!
