SO i have a 1990 2 door XJ. dont ask the submodle. Dont know it. But i love it to death. its currently at stock heiht til i can get the money to put some lift on it. ANd i was just outside havin a smoke. I was lookin at it fom the side across the street. and was thinkin about how everybody wants the XJ brought back. My friends mom drives a Dodge caliber around., I know. Major difference. but i stopped looking at it from a vehicle type. and started lookin at it from a look. Now if you look at it right. U can see some XJ ideas in the calibers designs. SUch as the four door. hatch back small SUV. Has anybody ever considered maybe running a drive train conversion on a caliber to make it rear wheel drive. then puttin a old inline 6 in it. add a lift. add a transfer case. and a solid front axle. Maybe a smaller Dana 30 or 35. I think that would look pretty cool. That would be some Heavy and expensive modifications. but still. Maybe it is an XJ in a different perspective. hmmmm Let me know on your ideas. I am not gonna attempt it unless i suddenly win the lottery(then again most of my winningawould probly go toward my XJ. but the caliber would be neat to toy around with as a concept
No. The caliber is the same as the useless jeep compass. The patriot is the same as the nitro. My family has had all four of them (xj, caliber, nitro, patriot) theres no way in hell an inline 6 is fitting the the cailbers hood without MAJOR modification. They make them in awd types. Just lift that.

So any opinion on the New Patriots, love the look of the XJ's and the new Patriot is kinda on that boxed look. Havent had the chance to take one out on a test yet. Just curious anyway take it easy peoples.

2013 Patriot? Looks the same as the existing ones a far as I can see. If I could clean up the front of a KK I'd drive one for sure. I think they still use the 8.25 rear.
DieselD, yeah the XK is similar in boxyness but have you seen the size of those things? :O Huuuge

I have both a commander and an xj. Commander is pretty cool. Disregard my girl friend photo shopped into the middle of the picture. It was a joke.

I'd say of all the newer Jeep models, the commander is more XJ like than any other. Looks wise. I'd drive one.
