AMC Mighty Mite

Very rare, but all aluminum, front and rear power locks, fully independent suspension with inboard brakes and weighing in at 1680# with a full tank of fuel. Drives like a formula car on the asphalt, like a Cadillac off road. As hard to roll as a HUMVEE. Consistently rated in the top ten by all the off road magazines. And probably my next project rig.

Late 80's to 90's Land Rover Discovery, Im talking like the Camel trophy ones. If anyone has been under one of these, every part on these things are very stout. I like the 80's ones better the roof dosn't look so tall.
I don't know... I've never owned a Jeep product in my entire life... nor have I ever owned a Chrysler, or even an AMC product for that matter. I've owned at least 13 GM vehicles (two of them new), four Volkswagens (two of them new, both my wife's though), a Ford, a Porsche, a Toyota, a Datsun, and a Volvo... and I would say HANDS-DOWN, the Jeep Cherokee is probably one of the best 4x4 vehicles I've ever seen, barring of course something like an actual Jeep Wrangler / Toyota Land Cruiser (old school) or someting smallish like that.
My grandfather had an 84 Jeep 4x4 Cherokee and it would break the rear tires loose if you floored it, even if you were already cruising at about 25 miles an hour (I don't know if there was something wrong with it... heh...). I recently bought some property in Lake Okeechobee and off the main road, I have to drive about 100 meters on sand. I borrowed my parents Ford Escape (my daily driver is a Solstice, so that wasn't going to work) and I got stuck. Obviously, the Escape isn't a good offroad vehicle... but this is what brought me to here. I'm looking for a Cherokee because I know enough about 4x4 vehicles to know that the Cherokee is THE perfect vehicle for this kind of stuff. I'm assuming you guys have looked at the value of these vehicles? A low mileage 1999-2001 can easily go for $6,500-$8,000 bucks. I can't imagine a car that old, going for that much. But they go for that much BECAUSE of what they are. They come with some of the more hardcore equipment STOCK from the factory, and are easily upgradeable from what I can tell.
I had my dreams crushed earlier today when the car I wanted (21k original miles, white 2001 Cherokee, non 4x4 though) shot up over $6,500 in bidding...
Oh well... my Cherokee will come one day...
Anyone want to trade a low mileage 4x4 Cherokee 1999-2001 for a low mileage Pontiac Solstice? (yeah... didn't think so).

If you are handy and dont care if the jeep is a salvage title, look for those too. I just got a 2000 Cherokee, 60,000 miles, dent on the fender and door, fixed those up and its ready to go. It was salvage because it was stolen, but anyhting with the theft was fixed by the PO before he sold it, all i had to do was the body work.
