ABS Delete Write-Up
This is a write up that I know deletes ABS on 97-01 XJs. I just did this myself, figured I'd make a post to help others out.
Step 1: disconnect battery & remove brake lines going from proportioning valve to the ABS module
Step 2: remove ABS module (disconnect the harness and just put it aside)
Step 3: remove ABS fuse/relay (I had 1 relay and 2 fuses)
Step 4: get a proportioning valve from a non ABS XJ, (unscrew the threaded fitting on the back and put it in place of the plug on your proportioning valve)
Step 5: route new brake lines. You need to replace the 2 lines on the bottom of the proportioning valve and the insert the line into the new port on the back of the valve. (Part numbers from MOPAR are listed below)
Step 6: bleed the brakes & triple check everything for leaks. DONE!
MOPAR brake line part numbers:
52128381 - $8.75
52128170 - $4.10
52127988AC - $12.00

I know I'm prolly gonna get noogied for reviving an old post. But, I would like pictures of the ABS module. To see what it looks like.
Also, how does one find out if thier XJ has ABS installed on thier vehicle? I don't THINK I have ABS on my '95 country edition xj.. but I wouldnt know an ABS component from Addam if we passed each other on a foggy night.

I did most of this
This write up hits everything. Dorman makes a brake line replacement kit (purchasable at O'Reilly or amazon) for non abs xj's. It comes with everything you need except the proportioning valve (also available at O'Reilly, not sure about amazon). You don't have to remove the ABS module if you don't want to, but it is nice to have the extra space. I did have to replace my master cylinder, mainly due to age, so be prepared for that cost worst case scenario. When running the new lines you may also need a new locking bar where the line connects to the rear axle line. It is a mounted connection on the unibody. If you are also redoing the axle brake lines, the kit should come with new locking bars. SMALL HANDS RECOMMENDED for this job. Being a rather tall tradesman with huge meat paws definitely makes this task take twice as long.
