Zj to Wj tie rod?
I'm assuming this will work, since it is popular with XJ owners. Am I correct? Taking a tie rod assembly for a ZJ V8 and using it on a WJ. Thanks

No, that won't work. The WJ tie rod is longer. Also the WJ has a one piece tie rod and a seperate drag link. The ZJ has a YK shaped tie rod. Really different animals. Besides, you wouldn't be gaining anything. The WJ tie rod is a pretty good tie rod

Yeah, it's hollow, but let me tell you how strong it is. I clipped a rock with the driver's tire which picked up the jeep and threw it 3 feet to the right. The tire and rim survived, but it bent the DRAG LINK! Not the tie rod. That's steel tubing with a slight bend manufactured into it. It just increased the bend. My steering wheel was 90* to the right when I was going straight. I was turning right and the back edge of the tire is what took the impact. The steering box started making funny noises shortly after this so I replaced it.
This was in heavy snow and people around here like to put large rocks on the edges of their lawns so people don't run over the grass on turns. Some of these rocks are huge boulders removed from basement excavations and the contractors don't want to take them away so they landscape with them!

Ok, so it is way stronger that the ones on the XJ then. Thanks for the info. Saved me a few bucks. If it can handle that then I wouldn't need to change it unless I did an insane lift. haha I'll go 3 inches tops for me, but that is way later down the road. Thanks guys!

BTW, that wheel was a factory Timberline aluminum rim and I expected it to be damaged, but it just had a couple of scratches on it. The tire was a Cooper Discoverer AT3 and it just had a fresh bruise marking with no damage either. I truly expected to have to tow it home. The plowed snow may have saved it. I misjudged the corner going too fast, only like 20 mph.
