zj check gauges
My check Gage light comes on when my volt Gage goes from 14 up to 19 what's the problem. 97 zj limited

The check gauge light alerts you to the fact you have a problem and to look at the gauges. Sounds like the problem is the alternator is over chargeing the battery.

Old fart with a wrench
It may be AC voltage from the dash lighting circuit bleeding over into the guages circuit. Jeep has a directive about this. Check it out.

Got it fixed new alternator and battery cables....also new idler pulley runs real quite now..

Engine: 4.0 with all of the noise and clatter
Thought for sure it would have been the voltage regulator in the ECM, glad you got it fixed and it didn't cost you as much as an ECM.
