Default WJ map lights

I had a burned out overhead map light in my '00 WJ and was trying to figure out how to get the lens off to replace the bulb. Everybody I talked to, even the dealer, said you just pry off the lens with a small screwdriver. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS! After scratching up the bezel and breaking one of the pivot pins off, I got it open. I couldn't get my fingers in to pull the bulb out, so I took the whole console down. I pressed the two keepers and pulled the socket out of the reflector, replaced the bulb, (Both while I was there) and snapped them back in. Then I had to shave off the melted posts that hold the unit to the bezel and slip the lens back in from the back side. Then I used sheet metal screws to hold it back together.

So, if you need to change a map light bulb, do it from the back of the console, DON'T try to open the lens. I hope whoever designed this has been terminated!

Now I need to go to the dealer and see if they have the tiny peanut bulbs that light up the control buttons on the EVIC.
