I've just been thru having BOTH rear door latches set up with rust, even though I've lubed them as well as I could periodically. It's the linkages that trip the latch to open that get rusted and refuse to rotate on their pivots. The only way to get to them to lube them is thru the child-proof locking lever opening and you have to use a flashlight and a tube on the lube can. I've been driving around for several days now with a ratchet-strap holding the doors closed while I soaked the latches in PB Blaster to get them free. The domelight switches are in the latches themselves, but luckily after you disconnect the harness, the lights go off. They were pretty easy to remove after taking off the door panel.

The dealer parts guy told me they cost $157.95 each IF they can get them! I pulled one out of an '02 at P&P for $6.50, but think I can save the other one. If not, it's back to the yard. The one I pulled was rusty, but not too bad. After I got it working smoothly, I lubed it with Hoppe's Gun Oil. I'm going to tape over the access holes so water doesn't get into them again.
