and what can i do to make it faster ?
after owning this thing for a couple months now my wife realized (i noticed when we first got it) that it has nothing on the XJ she drove my XJ and loved how fast it picked up compared to her wj then asked me why hers wasn't fast and then she told me to make it faster, happy wife happy life right
i don't know much about this fancy ***** truck so shed some light on me, basically when were on the E-way and want to pass someone we want to do it at lightning speed
so what makes this thing pick up slowly its got the 4.0, what ever trans the select track is and the T-case is got the 2wd option on it (242 with 2wd??)
the XJ is also the 4.0 with AW4 and 231
i tried to tell here mine is faster cause its lifted and has bigger tires but she didn't buy it, i guess blonds can be smart

It's slower because it's heavier. Not much you can do about that.
That's why we got the 4.7L V8. My brother has an '04 WJ w/the 4.0L I-6 with the Selec-trac t-case and it only gets 1-2 more MPGs than our '04 with the 4.7 L V8 & Quadra-trac t-case. He can't tow nearly as much either.
You can try one of those Tuner-chip programmer deals, but I don't believe they're worth the money in this instance. JMO

I have 4.7 as well. It is no slouch for how heavy it is. I have Borla exhaust, a K&N cold air intake, and a Jet chip. My buddy has one with a 4.0 and like blue said he barely gets a mile more per gallon than I do and mine is lifted. I would think some better exhaust would open it up some more. I dont know about the chips either, mine alredy had it when I bought it. Most people with high horse fuel injected engines like Camaros and Mustangs send there ecm or pcm out to a tuner to have it reprogrammed because of how much more they can gain you over a programmer. Or they have it dynoed tuned, which I know is nowhere near the route your wanting to go. I have just heard many people claim programmers to not be worth the money.
when we were looking every 4.7 had a hella lot o miles on it and kinda beat up, we jumped on this one with the 4.0 cause it was clean and i figured mine has the 4.0 and it is a champ so this one might be too, its probably a good thing its kinda slow cause she would be driving it like a race car if it wasn't
i will proably just through a CIA and exhaust on there for the peppier feeling, and grab a couple HP too
i was thinking the trans (witch i heard isnt desirable) was holding it back, you can barely feel the shifts, and since mine and my wife's first vehicles were manuals we like to know when its shifting i guess
how much heavier is it any way?

IF your throwing money into it to make it breathe better with a CAI and exhaust, might as well throw in a bored throttle body too. Otherwise your trying to squeeze more air into the stock tb, aint gonna happen.
