Default Squishy break pedal

2001 Jeep GC, 4.7 v8

Press the break pedal and break seem squishy. Once I hit a point they work fine. Have replace rear pads and bleed all four. Front pads look fine.

Ideas?

You may have damaged the seals in the master cylinder when you bled the brakes. Pushing the pedal too far down on an old master can damage the seals. You don't have to bleed the brakes if you're only replacing the pads. Only if you open the hydraulic system will require you to bleed the system.
