whinning front end
my exwifes 99 jeep grand cherokee dana 30 front axle is whinning the question is can I remove front ring gear and drive it 2 wheel drive?? any help!!! she dont have money now to replace it but she will in a month?

If it's the Selectrac 242 transfer case, remove the front driveshaft. If it's Quadratrac, just drive it for a month.

thanks dave1123 took front driveshaft out and she can drive it still makes noise not was bad 229,000 miles time for replacing it....going to start looking for one...will this mess up auto trans or transfer case??? 1999 jeep grand cherokee limited inline 6 cyl

Like I said, it depends on the case. The constant 4wd (Quadratrac II) will be damaged by doing this. The Selectrac 242 case, the one with the 2wd option, is okay to drive without a front shaft. Most of the 6's have the 242 case.
I think the other case is the 249 and that has a viscous clutch in it that can overheat without a front shaft and fixing that is expensive.
