1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo
[Stock Jeep]

Attempted to replace Shocks, and without knowing any better, used Monroe's that spec'd out for my vehicle. Unfortunately, they do not 'absorb' the road too well. They're stiff and I can literally feel every little bump, as the Jeep reacts -

[Monroe Part #: 37081]

I am seeking a set of Shock Absorbers that will perform with a SMOOTH ride, that actually Absorb the road - What is the best product? Should I order straight from the Dealer, or is there a proven After-Market brand + Part #, that is within reasonable money, to purchase.

This is a 95', breaching 200k miles, and I am simply attempting to keep her on the road a bit longer, with as less stress as possible to myself, and my Jeep.

Thank You ~Brew.

I'm using Monroe Sensatracs on my WJ and they ride nice and firm without being harsh. I think they're called Monroe-Matic Plus now. Try 32252 part number front, and 32269 rear for your 95. Your 37081 is an OESpectrum and is a little firmer that the Plus.

I am surprised no one has suggested the bilstein shocks?

a bit pricey, but I installed them on my van after going through the same process as you have. and here in Kalifornia money is not spent on roads making it a great test ground for shocks. they handle the pot holes better than the KYB and stock shocks I spent money on before purchasing the Bilsteins. I also have bilsteins on my Jeep.

Don't get me wrong, Bilsteins are great shocks, just a bit pricey. I had Monroe 500s on my 67 Caramo that were designed for an Impala. You could run over a dime and tell if it was heads or tails! BUT what a great hole shot at the drags! No rear axle tramp or spring wrap-up. AND they were a lot cheaper than the Konis everybody else was running.

When I replaced the shocks on my 04 WJ the Shop where I took it recommended the Bilstein right after I bought it, they steered me right.
