Just drove it around like a gentleman for a few. Shifting like a charm, no slipping. Between 1st & 2nd its still a little gummed up. Sometimes starts in 2nd if I don't manually put it in first. Gets better the more I drive it. Tomorrow, doin another tranny service! Lucky me!!!

Finally got a CEL.
P0740
P0783
One is TCC shift solenoid, the other is 3-4 shift malfunction.
Gonna have my trans people check it out later this week or monday. Hopefully a good flush and filter change and good valve body cleaning will take care of this.
Causes listed for both conditions are similar.. low fluid, dirty fluid (impossible!
), or solenoid / wiring problem.
P0783 JEEP Description
This P0783 code indicates that the 3-4 shift valve in the valve body is locked in the direction of the spring compression. The Transmission Control Module (TCM) controls the gearshifts by turning the shift solenoid valves "ON/OFF" and switching oil pressure to the valves in the valve body. The TCM calculates the "actual" transmission gear by comparing the signals from the input speed sensor and the output speed sensor.
P0740 JEEP Description
The torque converter clutch solenoid valve is activated, with the gear in D4, by the Transmission Control Module (TCM) in response to signals sent from the vehicle speed and the Engine Control Module (ECM). Lock-up piston operation will then be controlled. When the torque converter clutch solenoid valve is activated, the torque converter lockup clutch will engage creating a 1 to 1 RPM ratio between the transmission input shaft and the rotational speed of the torque converter.
Lock-up operation, however, is prohibited when A/T fluid temperature is too low.
When the accelerator pedal is depressed (less than 2/8) in lock-up condition, the engine speed should not change abruptly. If there is a big jump in engine speed, there is no lock-up.

Just an update...
Sold this zj but offered to help out new owner. So.... Trans has been working great but no overdrive.
Today I dropped the pan. There was some mud sediment in the bottom of the pan. Not very much, fortunately. Looks like the filter was able to keep it out of the internals.
I started the project with the intention of changine the governor solenoid and the overdrive tcc solenoid pack. What I didn't expect to find was a broken 3-4 accumulator spring! And this being the 4th, all my suppliers were closed.
Went ahead with the solenoids but ran into an issue getting the @#$%& park rod back into the case. Tons of videos and advice on removal, but nothing on install. Anyways, had to put the jeep on jackstands and rotate the driveshafts while putting pressure on the park rod. It finally clicked in, after over and hour of messing with it.
Now I am waiting to get the 3-4 spring, once I have that I should be able to take it on a test run with the new electrics.
Will update after I get it done.

Well, got the new 3-4 spring, installed it, put on new filter, then found out filter I was given by trans parts place was way to thick, had to get a local parts place to run one out as I had siliconed the pan gasket already.
Got it all together, needed 6.5 qts of fluid. Drove it around, shifting great between 1 and 3 but still no *(U#$ Overdrive!!!!
I've replaced just about everything inside the trans related to this problem, other than the actual overdrive unit.
Wiring looked great when I checked it before. I'm stumped.
Gonna take it to some pros and have them test drive it with a scanner that costs more than the ZJ. Hopefully it is something stupid and easy.
