Default Weird noise under dash?

LAtely, I've been hearing this weird noise under the dash of my WJ, It sounds like a servo, and then like plastic being compressed, a kinda crackling and knocking, At first I thought it was one of the transfer components, but the noise happens when the Jeep is in the On position but the engine isn't runinng.

From what I've been reading it might be the Evap Surge Solenoid, but I'm not sure.

I have a cross country trip in a month, and the last thing I need is the WJ dying on me half way there, I'm broke, anyone know what this sound is?

My opinion is it's one of the doors/motors in the HVAC housing moving to the defrost position because of no engine vacuum. The defrost position is the default position. To be sure there is not a problem, no fault codes stored, check "Retrieving Codes" here. http://www.wjjeeps.com/faultcodes.htm
