Default Water leaking

I noticed my temperature gauge was a little high it wasn't quite in the red yet and I turn the car off and seeing the steam coming out and couldn't exactly tell from where but my water reservoir was basically dry and I filled up the water reservoir and then I went to fill up the radiator radiator and it filled all the way up and then I started seeing a little leaking just a couple drops from the front of the motor and then kind of a lot from the back of the motor I've only have the car about 4 months not sure if there's a hose or any water connections back there is there?

Default Leaking water

like I said before I've only had this Jeep for a few months and I don't really know too much about Jeeps this is my first Jeep but is it possible that maybe I overfilled it and that's why it could be leaking because of like a water overflow?

You need to find the leak. Your cooling system is compromised it sounds like in a major way. The cooling system pressure may not be able to get to where it needs to be to raise the boiling point of the coolant enough when it has an opening and is leaking. Overheating and boiling over coolant out of the resevoir, maybe the radiator cap, and at the area of the leak is likely something to happen. Superheated steam may now be circulating within the system, and this can cause damage to critical engine components (hotspots).. when the cooling system is unable to increase and maintain an increased psi like it is designed to do.

The front of the engine has the thermostat housing area or the waterpump area as its main culprit for leaks. It could be coming from a hose connection or the radiator too? A leak in the cooling system may run out and along any components and take unussual paths.. To see it leaking from a certain location does not mean that is the location where the leak is actually occuring.

Auto parts stores rent a psi testing kit to help you look for a cooling system leak more closely, and to be able to do this on a cold engine with no moving parts.

(edited to add):
Another thing is if there is a head gasket leak, or a compromised head (maybe a cracked head), then this can cause coolant to be lost internally, or to overflow out of places.. and could cause overheating problems.

How is it running?

I suspect the core plug in the back of the head has rotted. IF it's a 4.0.

When asking for help in any automotive forum, it's always good to know specifics such as year and engine. If you're '96 and down, this could be a heater control valve leak, which is probably the most common leak among XJs. But, I have no idea since you're not giving us basic information.

Default Water leaking

Well I bought a new water pump!! It was coming from front and dripping back towards back of motor. FYI it's an 04 jeep grand Cherokee 4.0 inline 6 cylinder. Hope it's all. No leaks from thermostat housing at all. Anything else commonly go out when water pump goes???

If the leak at the waterpump was from the waterpump gasket being deteriorated, then ussually the thermostat housing gasket will be next to leak very soon afterwards. So, a lot of people choose to replace the thermostats and waterpumps at ussually the same time. I didn't. I just changed my leaking thermostat when it was the problem. I was back in there changing the waterpump within a day or two, after it went next...

(edited to add):
If you do not know when the thermostat was last replaced, I would go ahead and do that now. Replace the thermostat with a Stant Superstat 195* one. It is an inexpensive piece at maybe $5 - $10, and the thermostat gasket (use felpro.. I do not reccomend to use a cheaply made thermostat gasket) is only $2 - $5 to get the quality felpro gasket. I think the other more cheaply made thermostat housing and waterpump gaskets may begin to leak and cause problems again very soon after the installation.

If you have not yet installed the waterpump, I would recommend again to choose not to run a cheaply made gasket (such as the one that comes in the H2O pump box sometimes) and get a quality Felpro waterpump gasket too.

I use waterpump/thermostat specific RTV sealant on both sides and a gasket for these two pieces. It has to be chemically resistant to the properties of the coolant.. the RTV

Since you are going to be in there, you may think about replacing the belt and hoses now, if they look older and/or used-up... And a new radiator cap.

New antifreeze/coolant too.
