Exclamation Undercarriage Confusion

Can anyone here tell me what this part is on the undercarriage of a WJ? It's the lowest hanging point, and i believe a clipped a few rocks with it down at the creek today

Is that a picture of your rig's undercarriage? You have a custom suspension setup on the rear and you don't know what purpose a transmission crossmember serves?

If that is the lowest point on your rig you need a lift bud

i'm probably the only person on this forum that's like this... but i don't want a huge lift. haha. maybe 2-3" sometime in the future, because i was grinding on rocks pretty bad yesterday. but i don't like the look of some of the lifted WJ's i've seen on the internet. some look great, but others, not so much.

I'm keeping my WJ stock. Here's Dave's WJ after he installed a 2" budget boost on his WJ. >https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f46/dl...-23666/index4/

That called a SKID Plate. It is supposed to be the lowest part of the vehicle except for the axels.

i first thought it was a skid plate as well.. but it was connected to something and others have said it was the crossmember. also, none of the other OEM skid plates are on my jeep. i'm thinking about adding some though.
