hi just bought 93 gc 4.0l for 800 bucks. it has a automatic transmission but it wont shift into 1st gear. when i have it in 1st. its in 2nd gear. it wont upshift or downshift in drive. also overdrive isn't working so basaically i have 2nd and 3rd gear. i replaced the tranny fluid and filter and still no luck. any ideas on how to fix this?

 

possibly the transmission control module. Do a search on TCM

 

I'm assuming it's electronic related. I believe it's in what's commonly known as "limp in mode" which allows you to drive it to the repair shop. As stated before, it's probably the control module or the solenoid pack internally.

 

Replace TPS. Be sure that the filter fits.
