I just had a problem with my WJ and was wondering if you guys have had the same problem. I drove home last night and parked in my driveway. The temp was about 28* and the roads were wet where salted and just "painted" white with snow elsewhere. I went out this evening and started it up to go someplace and the CEL was lit but the engine was running smooth. Put it in reverse and backed out of the driveway fine, shifted to drive and found it very sluggish taking off from a stop. After a few stops with the same result, I rolled the window down and could hear a "slipping" sound from the trans in first gear. It worked perfectly in all other gears and went into OD fine. I drove about 15 to 20 miles like a granny and parked it. I checked the trans fliud and it was clean and in the mark. After about 2 hours, I started it up to go home and let it warm for about 3 minutes before driving and it functioned perfectly. No noise, no sluggishness, good response and no slipping. It was snowing furriously at this time. I got home and checked the codes. Got a P1763.

This checked out as governor pressure sensor voltage too high. I was told this could have been caused by a temporary short from moisture in the curcuit. I was also told to reset the code and see if it happens again.

In your opinion, should I do this or have it checked out by a tech?

I use this vehicle for my business and would like to "save" the trans. My concern was the symptoms as well as the code.

Just an update on this. On startup the following morning, the P1763 code was gone, the CEL light was off, no problems since. Problems that fix themselves frighten me. You never know what was wrong and if it will happen again!
