I just recently found out from the build sheet that my ZJ has a factory track lock rear diff. obviously I've never known because it must not be working, it spins one rear tire all the time. I've heard that these are known for their clutches going bad but can easily be rebuilt with a clutch kit, is this worth it to do? Where can I find them?

Hmmmm, 70 bucks... I wonder if theres a cheaper place to get them. How effective is this LSD, how is torque converted? I've heard from a few people that it can convert *some* torque to the other tire in slipping conditions, and i've heard from others that it specifically converts torque to the tire with the most traction.

They are decent at best and with new clutches and proper braking work pretty good. Make sure you use a friction additive in the oil or the clutches will wear out in about a week.

So how helpful is it with one tire completely off the ground, I've heard this totally defeats most LSD's? Also, again, does anyone know exactly how torque is converted in this LSD?

Like Joe Dirt's daddy says "it just does". If you lift a tire and apply a bit of brake it tricks the LSD into thinking they both have traction and it will make the other spin sometimes.

couldn't you get two rebuild kits and put in more friction disks so the clutch packs are tighter and therefore work better? My 94 ZJ limited has a tow package so shouldn't it have a lsd as well? I want to just rebuild it and buy an aussie locker for the front. After I swap in this 242 tc.

Not sure about doubling up clutches, after we replaced my buddys twice we just welded it and called it done. Wouldn't recommend it for a DD.
