Default Tire selection

I have a 97 JGC with regular 15inch tires

I want to do something a little taller and fatter, not crazy **** maybe some 16 inch tires or 17 inch

Looking to hear some recommendations for some tires

one quick note

my jeep gets 320miles to 21 gallons, when I hit 320 on the odometer the gas light is coming on

along with a tire recommendation, if you know what the general fuel consumption as the tires get bigger it would be great to know that as well. I want to stay as close to 320 a tank as I can, but I need something just a hair bigger for some of the light trail riding I do in and around Helen GA.

thanks

Keep your rims and go with inch-dimensional tires like 30X9.5X15's. They are much cheaper then going with metric radials and size selections are many.

I added 31x10.5x15's on my 96 grand and my mileage dropped from18 to 13.5 but it looks better and is way more fun. It is also not my dd that is a 2002 grand that is stock for now.

Did you factor in the difference your speedo is reading? Your speedo is slower because of the larger tire, less miles are registering for the same amount of fuel used. I don't think going to a 31 will knock four and a half mpg off.

That was another question I had that I forgot about....

how big of a tire can I put on my 97 JGC (on the stock rims) before the speedo and the odo need recalibrated?

What size tire do you have now?

Here is a chart for what speedo gear to use with the tire size and gear ratio you have. Amazon has the gears for around 35 bucks.

You're gonna want to have all four tires the same size.
