Default Throttle body riser

I have a 1997 GC Laredo 4.0L I6 engine and I am thinking of putting a throttle body riser on it because I have seen reports of a TBriser improving gas mileage and horse power.

Is this true? Does anyone have experience with them?

I don't have any experience with them but have heard the same as you and am looking to see if it is true at all before I purchase one. Hopefully someone with some knowledge on these will chime in.

Well, you have me convinced! Any suggestions on mods that will increase HP and MPG? I do use 0w30 oil and it helps a small bit.

Thanks for the clarification, good thing I didn't waste money buying one.

The mods I have done that have produced seat of the pants improvements for me in order were...I should clarify I already had a 62mm throttle body and jet 1 chip installed prior...

FIPK2 air intake...Best mod IMO

Cat Back system...2.5" Magnaflow cat, Flowmaster mandrel bent tailpipe, and Magnaflow 70 series...This is best for the 4.0 acording to kolak performance

Firepower ignition system from quadratec...yes this is actually for a cherokee but I put it on my grand anyways. It changed my voltage acording to the dash gauge to 14v but I have seen no ill effects in the last 2yrs. I also gaped the E3 plugs to .5

Those were my top 3 I did waste my money on some snake oil...TBS...and magnets for the fuel line.

My next performance mod will be a intake manifold from a 99-2001 4.0 grand. The dyno results I saw in my research showed 19hp, at the wheel, improvement on a 97 grand. That was also using the newer injectors which have better flow characteristics.

I have not seen much for milage improvement with any of these. 2MPG overal.

so, which one mod did you do that you think gave you the best power improvement???

My rig is in the shop getting a new engine at the same time I am getting a high flow cat and muffler installed.

I would definitely go with the FIPK2 kit since you have freed up a major exhaust restriction (assuming you are having a performance cat back installed). It will make your engine breathe much easier and you will love the HP gain
