Default t case fluid?

Ok got a question for u guys does it matter what type of fluid u put in a 99 grand Cherokees t case it has the Quadra trac 2 cause its really low and if there is a specific type what's it called. I've always just used gear oil on my old Cherokees but since this has electronics I wasn't sure. Any input is helpful thanks

Front diff have stripped gears? Can you turn the front driveshaft when its parked?
I know older zjs didn't have a locking mechanism in the tcase until like 97 or 98 (locked in low only)

Sorry just saw it's a 99 (can't see previous posts while replying on my phone). Yours should lock when in low. Its theoretically possible that a different tcase was put in at some point though.

I,m in UK. Just changed a Quadratec 11 box that was only in rear wheel drive. 1 you have to use the chrysler or Mopar special oil. 2 If theres non oil it wont drive the clutches in box to drive front axle. Trust me I know I`ve been inside the box and theres a geroter pump that makes the clutches work that puts drive down a big chain to front shaft output.
