Here's the history of my problem.
Was getting random codes. Replaced entire distributor to include cam position sensor, crank position sensor, IAC, coil, plugs etc. Still got random codes (cam, crank, IAC) . I pulled a computer from a running but rusted out Jeep. It has the same numbers as the one that was in my Jeep.
Here is the new problem, it will start and shut off in about a second. I "reset" the computer as per the forum by touching the disconnected positive to the negative. Not a fuel problem. Any ideas?
It is a 96 grand cherokee. No alarm system.

 

Your symptom of start and shut off immediately is a sure sign of the alarm system being activated, as far as the computer is concerned. The only other thing might be the computer isn't receiving data from the sensors to tell it it's running properly.
