Default code p1391, and others

so i put my engine back in after i rebuilt it. runs great 99.9% of the time. its happend twice ( in 250 miles) i get a p1391, p0351, p0300, p0301, p0306, codes and i feel a slight missfire. from what ive read this is most likely a crank sensor or the ignition coil. I went to jeep and used the scan tool to "sync" my cam sensor per the repair manual. and it is running good still. havent gotten any codes again but it was in "sync" already. just curiouse as to what you guys have ran into or is most likely the problem. mine is intermitant and never had missfire/mil on symptoms before the rebuild. thanks for any advise.

leaning twards- coil, crank sensor.

p1391 is always a good indicator that your distributor is off by one tooth. Do a search for "Indexing" your distributor.

sorry, I forgot to mention its a 2000 xj, 4.0L. no distributor. but the cam sensor was installed correctly. engine TDC and the sensor installed and clocked per manual, then checked for sync... but ill look for it.

Well that certainly changes things.

p03xx are all misfire codes, p1391 is loss of cam/crank signal. I'd look a replacing the Cam Position sensor. They can and do fail.

ok, thanks for the input. i opened the top off it up to look inside and its a bit rusty (the metal band the magnet runs on) that could definatly cause interferance. so i cleaned it up just for kicks while i was in there. no problems yet. but its been intermitant so ill keep posting if it continues. also should (if i need it) buy the top with a new magnet or the whole thing? just curious what part fails? i see both sold...
