serpentine belt troubles HELP!!!

Default serpentine belt troubles HELP!!!

OMG, how hard can it be to replace an idler pulley and put a new serpentine belt back on!!!
The belts I am being given by two parts houses and one dealer are 3 inches too long.
There is NOT a belt routing sticker and the photo in my manual as well as the picture I have been shown are different then what I have.
All the pictures I have seen show the water pump not having the fan attached as I have on my jeep.
The dealer was NO help telling my the belt I had on my vehicle for years must be wrong and the belt he had that was 3 inches longer was what I needed and I was putting it on wrong!!!
I googled this and see others talking about this but none of them said what it took to fix.

I will have to wait till one of my sons get home they have 4.0's I have a 5.2. In the mean time here is a rudimentary drawing you could consult:

Remember smooth to smooth groove to groove. If three different places have already recommended the same belt and your only off by 3 inches I would have to guess we have a routing problem.

It has to be a routing problem. I did the idler pulley and belt in about 30 min on my fiance's 4.0. I also had to look at a diagram the first time, so don't feel bad.

As for the fan not showing on the diagram, its normal. They don't draw it in so its easier for you to see the diagram.

Thanks so much BUT I don't think mine is the same as your pic.
All the diagrams I see have a pulley for the fan separate and next to the water pump,mine has the water pump and fan on one.
On your diagram is the middle but left of center pulley a tensioner? If so this drawing is close.
I have no diagram and the only thing I have to go by is the belt that broke due to frozen idler pulley.
And hey,again thank you soooo much.
the smooth to smooth and groove to groove is something learned for me!!!

You should have 7 pulleys/idler points to worry about including one for the fan/water pump assembly.

As you are facing the engine is the AC on the upper left or the lower right under the power steering unit. this will let me know if you possibly have an earlier model engine?

hey buddy,thank you for the response,
My A/C and power steering are on opposite sides but
I found a belt the same size and the jeep is back on the road. The belt I have works perfectly and fits exactly like the one that broke due to a seized idler.
My curiosity has been piqued,why is this jeep so different and why no diagram under hood???
Maybe a newer engine out of a crash!
The engine code number stamped on the block is 508mx03, does this mean anything to anyone?
Anyway,my Jeep is special...LOL
