Default Seriously silly Question

Ok, we just bought our first Jeep: A 1995 Grand Cherokee Laredo 5.2L Auto.

Let me say im pretty impressed with this little ride. Pretty darn good mpg for a V8 SUV. Anyways I have a question I have searched on google and I cannot seem to find an answer to.

Under the Heater control Systems is a diagram of, well, the Jeep. At each tire is a green light. I cannot for the life of me figure out what they do . Im just curious as hell. My best guess is a traction loss indicator but I could very well be wrong

Anyways, anyone have any idears? And any other common problems I should be aware of (ie: I know a 95 Z28 is prone to passenger window failure on the motor).

Anyways if someone could enlilghten me to what those doodad lights are for, i'd be grateful T I A

thats called the VIC, and when a tire is lit it means its a driving tire, like if your in 2wd with a 242 or 231 tcase the rear 2 will be lit, when in 4wd all are lit, and when you have a 249 full time case they are all lit all the time

Cool! another new arrival with a Grand/5.2.

I just picked up my first Grand Cherokee last Friday (1996, 129k miles). I like the combination of the Vehicle Information Center in the lower center console and the upper trip computer in the overhead. I've never had a vehicle tell me so much without opening the hood.

Welcome to the forum from another newb.

Andy

WOOT! Ty Orvis!

So in other words they'll stay green with the All Time 4WD. Thanx a ton appreciate it.

Andy: Our Explorer had the overhead console but alas our G/C doesnt But im going to put on in lol.

Funny thing: Wife was with me when I passed a car the other day. I commented how quick it was and I was pretty surprised. She goes "Really? So that means I can race you?" I was "It aint THAT quick (mind you, I drive a 95 Z28 with goodies ). Ironically the next day we did happen to get on a long straight away after work (it really was a coincidence cause she works in a different town than I do) and she tried to pass me. Was pretty fun LOL. Still pretty shocked how fast that heavy beast is.

I have a similar question. I have the 249 tc and every once in a while, my vic says 'service 4wd switch' is there a way to bypass the sensor?

No owners manual? I wonder if a person could find an owners manual online to download? The same diagram should tell you if you have a door open and will tell you if you're in 4WD HI or LO

I've been impressed at the oomph mine has as well. I went from a lifted 1994 4Runner with the 3.0 V6 (absolute slug) to this, and the wife has a 2007 WRX. I still like hers for the slingshot feel, but at least my new vehicle can get out of its own way AND pass people on the highway without a 2-mile opening

Careful on that gas pedal, you'll watch the gas guage slipping toward E if you stay on it too much. It's nice to have that punch but I reserve it for whenever I really need it.

It doesn't have a problem with the tc, the sensor is wearing out and falls in and out enough to not read right.

UGHH!!! I hate that!!!! I completely disconnected the thing because I couldn't stand hearing *BEEP*BEEP*BEEP* *BEEP*BEEP*BEEP* every 30 seconds!

It's the actual VIC itself that has the problem. I swapped mine out with a different one and it went away for a while and came back. I also noticed if you PUNCH IT with your fist or something else while its in its little "Service 4wd Switch" tantrum it goes away for a few seconds. I'm thinking it's a bad cap inside the VIC that does it

I know where the problem is located, under the driver outside, but I don't want to mess it up by doin something wrong.
