I can't say about the wardens, but I like my guard dogs which are an aggressive A/T tire compared to a real M/T. The guard dog is a good happy medium for me. The lugs are deep and lots of meat, little road hum but not bad at all

I'm stuck between the 31" warden (bfg allterrain style) and the 31" guard dog (mud Terrain). I want them to last a long time so I was looking at the wardens because the bfg all terrains are known for lasting forever, but the guard dogs look like they would be a good mud tire, which I go mudding and trail riding occasionally. I'm on a highschool budget though so does anyone have any opinions on which tire might last me longer?
Honestly most high schoolers wont keep their vehicles long enough for the difference in life for a mud terrain versus an all terrain to make a difference. Since i graduated in 09 i've had something like 4 different vehicles.

Man I'm trying to decide now between Wardens & Guard dogs...my issue is that I've seen the Wardens wear funky..alot of times to not just once, but have seen no complaints against the guard dogs.
My issue I love the Warden pattern, but idk if I should gamble the funky wear!

Would the wardens last considerably longer than the guard dogs? The guard dogs have an extra 1/16th" of tread than the wardens if that changes any. I know that an all terrain should wear slower. But is the guard dog really a "mud" tire? Treadwright just calls it an all terrain I'm pretty sure

Its an aggressive all terrain. I'll be going Guard dogs..they will last longer, and they don't have any issues with funny wear.
I don't want to have to rotate wheels to keep them wearing evenly.

But I've also seen the gaurd dogs measured for tread depth, both new and a set about 6 moths old. The new set came out at 23/32...thats a big difference from 17/32. Someone on this forum someone measured like 21-22/32...All the Warens have been 17-18/32..
So with the extra tread depth, they will last longer.
And I mean the difference for 4 is only like 20 bucks? Same shipping cost!
As I stated all the Wardens I've seen have had funky wear..the shoulders wear quick unless you over inflate..and over inflating kills retreads. Or if you rotate OFTEN, and I didn't want to deal with either! So thats why I went against the Wardens!

Yes sir thats true the guard dogs measured in at 21/32..and they have also been measured at more!
Idk, I'm very local to them..about 1 hrs drive. I will be picking up 5 guard dogs with BFG At 3ply sidewalls on Friday.
I know if you call you will get a more direct answer, vs the web saying out of stock or whatever.

I can vouch for the guard dogs lasting a while. I was going to go with Treadwrights (until I was given a set of tires), and told some guys at work about them a couple years ago. One of the guys bought some guard dogs two years ago and has driven them every day to work. He has not been kind to them, having not rotated them once and his alignment might be off a small amount. Other than sone uneven wear on one tire that would have balanced out with rotation or alignment, they all have about 50% tread left.
Impressed, another of my co workers bought a set of guard dogs two weeks ago and likes how they ride on the highway.
I have always thought the guard dog ( which according to the website was formerly known as "MTG" and currently labeled "M/T', which I assume means mud terrain, not all terrain), looked the most versatile for the trial, and would be my choice (will be once I burn off a few sets of tires Ive been given)
I am curious, has anyone had any experience with the Howlers? How do they compare off road in mud, roots, rocks, and hill limbs against the Guard Dogs?
