Just bought an '06 Grand Cherokee 65th Anniversary for my daughter.

After I got it home, I discovered that if someone is sitting in the passenger front seat, the seat belt reminder light stays on. You also have to depress the unlock button on the belt receiver nearest the console in order to even get the metal portion into the buckle.

There is a label on the carpet that says in part, that if the seat has been removed or the wiring disconnected at any time, it must be reset at the dealership. It has something to do with the weight sensor for the airbag, apparently.

Anybody run across this before? How do you reset it, or do I have to go to the dealership?

i recently purchased a 2006 grand jeep cherokee and the seat belt indicator on the dash flashes and beeps at me whenever i drive slower than 25... which is all stop and go traffic.

i find it terribly distracting and i struggle to keep my attention on the road with it constantly beeping

i assumed it was my seat, however as i read further in the haynes manual and online forums I have become suspecious of the passanger seat.

there is nobody setting in the passanger seat, however, based on other reviews i assume the seat may have been removed (140k miles) and reinstalled... and cause the constant beeping when driving 25 mph or under
were you able to fix your jeep? remove the beeping or get the seat recalibrated
