Replacing Axles?
Not that it really matters since you're replacing the entire axle, but are you certain that you have a d35 rear? starting in 96 they started using the d44a. If you're planning on rebuilding your origional axle that could be a nasty suprise.

Shes a D35 I#'m 99.9999% sure. The new assemblies are coming off the same ZJ from the JY. I'll give them a good check before buying though, I'll check the oil too. Good point.
What's this about caster?

The lower control arms up front are adjustable. They control the caster adjustment, which makes the steering return to center after the steering wheel is released. Just make sure both sides are adjusted the same. This is one of the items which will contribute to the well known "Death Wobble".
Also, I believe the Dana 44 was only used in the V-8 models and will have an aluminum case.

OK so today I got the front axle fitted (rear tomorrow). All went well and I enjoyed the project. Drove the car and apart from alignment everything felt good (MUCH better than before).
Now I have a question. When I got my ZJ there was no front prop shaft fitted, I figured because of the ungodly noise the front differential was probably making. So when I got my new axle fitted (and tested as above) I then fitted the front prop shaft. I've now noticed that when turning tightly the wheels hop a bit (just like the way my XJ did when I had 4wd part time on). What could this be?
The tabs indicating the ratio's of the axles are rusted to pieces on all axles so I've no idea what ratios are now fitted to my Jeep could it be because I've two different ratios front to rear or could it be a problem with my transfer case?
