replaced cps....now no crank?????

Default replaced cps....now no crank?????

Replaced the cps( geniune mopar) on my 1996 grand cherokee 4.0...1 bolt, one plug......didn't mess with anything else.....turn key, nothing...lights work, dash start up lights work, battery good (just drove it up on ramps to work on) headlights, etc.....what did i do to mess up such an easy job? Thanks for any help....

CPS doesn't effect cranking issues. First look at your battery and starter connections then check your ground connections and if that doesn't work check them again
If it cranked fine before and your battery has a charge I wouldn't suspect your starter, but anything is possible with Murphy's Law.
Murphy's Law and automotive mechanics kinda go hand in hand I think. Good luck!

Default That's what I was thinking....

I do have it on a charger now, but it had been fine till this, I removed both battery cables, they are clean and tight. Even did the tap on the starter, all the starter connections are tight.....I guess I could jump the starter connections, or is that not a good thing to do? Any other suggestions are gladly accepted, I really appreciate the help...at 62, it's not as much fun as in my 20's working on my 440 6pack cuda....!!!!!!

Default No crank problem FIXED!!!!

NSS plug disconnected !!!!! Was barely touching switch, cleaned with brake clean, pushed back on and she started....Thanks for the advice...rsbhunter

AH HA! Clumsy! At least you found it without spending any more money! My reverse lights quit working soon after I did mine. Broke a wire inside the plug.
