Hello all, I am once again a Jeep owner and new to the forums. I just picked up a 96 ZJ and am ready to start doing a few modifications. I did an extensive search for this topic but was unable to find what I need. I am looking to take out the Graphics Display Module and replace it with blank plastic (for switches) or possibly a commercial dual band radio.
My question is, can a standard "Din and half or Double Din" stereo adapter be used? If not, possibly a better solution that I am unaware of. I am unsure of the size as I have not taken mine out yet. I would love some insight into this, pictures would be awesome. Thanks again.

All Jeep units are double din, to the best of my knowledge.
I bought an adapter and installed a single din unit into my 01 XJ, my wife's 00 XJ, and my 03 TJ, all the same.

Regardless, I think the OP is talking about the VIC, which I have no idea how large it is.

You guys misunderstood his question.
The info display down by the shifter is what your talking about right?
Remove it and cut out a piece of plastic and screw it in.

I think the OP is wanting to get rid of the VIC and install a switch panel in its place, but I don't have an answer for him.

^^^ I said the same thing, and odgreen's got it right. I don't think the VIC is any din size, or the space behind it very deep.
You could also just keep it in there and the put the switches in the VIC itself...

Yea, I was looking to take out the computer thing behind the shifter. I have the budget GDM and its useless to me. I appreciate all the comments. I will do a writeup, with pics, once I have the time to tackle this project. Thanks again.
