Rear door won't open from outside

Rear door won't open from outside
98 ZJ. Opens fine from inside. I have the panel off. It almost seems as if the door push button doesn't travel far enough to actuate the latch.
I have tried adjusting the arm with the allen bolt with no luck.

Are you talking about the glass or the whole hatch?
The glass has a micro switch with a ball-detent that gets dirty. Remove, clean, and reinstall.
The hatch has a bent metal rod connecting the handle to the latch. I had to slightly bend mine in order to get more out of it. Works great.

Ahhh. My bad.
Likely the same fix. Bend the metal rod so it pulls a little more.
Sometimes the rod can be tightened. Un-snap a plastic clip. Remove the rod. Reinsert tighter than before. Snap the plastic clip.
